About Us

Back in 2014 local landowners in Shipston-on-Stour sold a couple of plots of land to the west of the town for construction.  These plots were developed by Taylor Wimpey and became Herdwick Gate to the south of Campden Road with 95 properties, and Herdwick Fold on the north side of Campden Road with 143 properties.

According to 2021 census data for the Shipston South ward in Stratford District, we make up over 18% of the ward.  Although given the number of properties sold after the census was done that figure is probably closer to 20%.  Looking at Shipston as a whole (North & South wards) we are almost 10% of the town’s population.

The developer sold the last property in the summer of 2023 but one year later neither development was signed off as completed, the roads were not adopted and a number of landscaping issues remained outstanding. 

It was against this background that the idea of a Residents’ Association was born.  Following discussions with a number of residents on both developments it was decided to join forces and establish a single Association.

The Herdwick Gate & Herdwick Fold, Shipston-on-Stour Residents’ Association is an independent voluntary organisation, which was formally established at a General Meeting on 12th September 2024.  

Whilst the initial rationale for setting up the Association was to present a unified voice to Taylor Wimpey to encourage them to finish our developments to the right standards, we also had an eye to the future.  

One day our Public Open Spaces will be transferred over to a management company called Trinity (Estates) Property Management and we think it’s important to have an Association in place to oversee the work they do and ensure residents are getting value for money.

But the Association is not just about the serious business of working with Taylor Wimpey and Trinity, important though that is.  We are focused on making our community a great place to live in the widest possible sense.  So that means doing some fun stuff - promoting a sense of community spirit and coming up with ideas that will bring us together.
